TAKE STOCK/JOHNSON SCHOLARS REPORT (7)
IFLY STEM TRIP
Scholars also experienced our iFLY STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) trips where they were provided a firsthand experience with understanding flight in a wind tunnel. Students engaged in gathering and interpreting data, experienced a personal flying session, and applied the knowledge learned. These learning opportunities allow our students to understand and explore practical STEM applications in the real world.
SUMMER INTERNSHIP WORKSHOPS
A series of Summer Internship workshops were conducted in the spring to prepare students for the internship application process. Through partnership with the District Human Resource Department, students were oriented on the school district application process and introduced to key district personnel who will be available to assist them during the summer. Students were also informed on key information to include in their resume, providing an opportunity to apply professional use of their TSICJS Student Resume. District internship positions include roles such as school-based teacher assistants, IT Tech, Transportation, and Human Resources. As a result, twenty-two students have been hired to participate in the FY24 District’s Summer Internship Program.
