Doctors are considered as the ideal personality in the society. It is really
important to take care of their own ergonomics, posture and working environment
before advising others. Doctors and nurses have an unusually high rate of workplace
injuries, with those who work in hospitals at particular risk. In fact, according to OSHA
statistics, since 2001 hospital staff have experienced injury and illness rates greater than
both manufacturing and construction and well above the national average. Making
ergonomic adjustments to the work environment, however, could help reduce these
      numbers.
Being a Manual Therapist, in all these 18 years of practice, I have seen a number of
doctors suffering from postural, mechanical derangement as well as degenerative
changes in joints and spine most commonly. The problems we see in most of the doctors
include: Neck pain, Back pain , Shoulder pain, knee pain ,Varicose veins and plantar
fasciitis most commonly. These problems are due to faulty posture, faulty workplaces
as well as the Physical and mental stress coming during working for longer hours. These

are some important tips to avoid the problems as well as for the prevention of these
      problems to occur.
In just a few years, the roles of medical and surgical practitioners have undergone a
major transformation, owing to developments in a new generation of advanced
technologies such as surgical robotics, in-theatre interactive three dimensional displays,
speech recognition for the control of critical theatre systems, virtual reality simulators,
telemedicine, telecare, and e-learning. Working long hours on the screens, most
commonly causing “Text-Neck Syndrome”. Faulty seating positions and working
environment causing back pain and “Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI)” Repetitive stress
injuries are coming from performing similar task again and again in faulty position and
      posture!
