CASCIA FRESHMAN RUNNER MAKES BIG STRIDES
Cascia Hall freshman Sophie Pazzo has made quite a name for herself in the world of Cross Country. Competing against runners in all age groups and all classes, Pazzo racked up quite a
large number of top nishes. These nishes included 1st place in the Chile Pepper Run in Fayetteville and 3rd in Tulsa’s Elite Division of the Riverside 5000. Sophie was 4A Regional Champion in Henryetta, which is unusual for such a young runner. After winning Regionals, Sophie moved on to place 3rd in 4A State and 4th in the Oklahoma Meet of Champions. Pazzo’s incredible times were recognized by many outside the state when she quali ed for the championship race of Nike Cross Nationals Southwest in Texas. Very few 9th graders have ever quali ed for this prestigious event. Coach John Santee thinks Sophie has quite a future as a cross country athlete. “Sophie nished her season as a top ten runner in all classi cations in the State of Oklahoma,” said Santee.“She is a very talented runner and one of the most humble and hard-working athletes I have ever coached.”
Sophie Pazzo placed fourth in the Oklahoma Meet of Champions in November. She is pictured here with Cross Country Coach John Santee.
