period as we continue to spread the Augustinian values to our students and the greater Tulsa community.
I had the pleasure of walking the beautiful grounds at Cascia Hall during my recent visit in October for the meeting of the Augustinian Values Institute, where the religious and laity convene in celebration of our unique and vital charism. Particularly, we meet with the purpose of ensuring that the core values of the Augustinians—Truth, Unity, and Love—are given witness to in the curriculum and spiritual life of our schools. We look to instill in students a unique restlessness of heart, a restlessness that seeks always to know God better and to love our neighbors more fully.Through this pursuit, we are made one as Augustinians. In the line from St. Augustine we often recite, we can see how this ceaseless pursuit can make one out of many:“You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”
The meeting of the Augustinian Values Institute also gave us occasion to commemorate the anniversaries of two dedicated servants of the Augustinian Order. Fr. Bill Perez, O.S.A., an alum of Cascia Hall, celebrated 60 years as an Augustinian, a tenure that has included service as a teacher, pastor, and administrator. Fr. Philip Cook, O.S.A., celebrated the 25th anniversary of his vows as he continues his ministry as one of Cascia Hall’s outstanding faculty. We are very proud of these two brothers as well as all those who have served the Cascia Community over the years!
I wish you all a very happy new year, lled with continued blessings. Please pray for the development of new Augustinian vocations, such as Br. Nick Mullarkey, O.S.A. and Br. Stephen Isley, O.S.A., who will be ordained to the priesthood this June. Also please consider supporting our fth annual Augustinian Gala in Chicago on April 28th, where we will be honoring Fr.Tom McCarthy, O.S.A., Fr. Jim Friedel, O.S.A., and Anne and Don Berschback. Reservations and sponsorship opportunities are available online at augustiniangala.org.We would love to have the Cascia Community represented!
Sincerely in Christ and St.Augustine,
Very Reverend Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D. Prior Provincial
