Students Gain Much During Minimester
It is not unknown that Cascia Hall’s Minimester program has become one of the most memorable highlights of many Cascia graduates’ high school experiences. Often, students nd that they have
stumbled into their future careers through their Minimester internships and Christian service projects, or they have gained such valuable life experience that they credit much of their adult success to the program. Although it is not unusual to nd students in doctor’s
of ces, legal rms, or in laboratories, this year’s seniors have approached the experience with an adventurous attitude. One senior in particular has decided to follow one of her hobbies into the career realm.
Julia DeLo ’17 is known around campus for being a Renaissance Woman. She is captain
of the varsity volleyball team, manages several Advanced Placement classes on top of an intensive curriculum, and immerses herself in woodworking, which has led her to build her own ukulele. This Minimester, she will intern with Seth Lee Jones, owner and operator of SLJ Guitars in Tulsa, OK. Jones stands out in the Tulsa art community as one of the premier talents in the industry. Jones graduated at the top of his class at the Musicians Institute Guitar Craft Academy, and DeLo is excited to learn from such a man of talent and discipline.
DeLo rst encountered Jones when she took a guitar building course from the master luthier. From then on, DeLo fell in love with the entire instrument process
- from building to playing - and it was an easy decision to seek an internship with Jones where she hopes to gain invaluable experience. In fact, she is currently working on hand-crafting a full size guitar, a project she hopes to complete by the end of January. When considering the uniqueness of Cascia Hall’s Minimester
