Introduction

Firstly let me warmly welcome you all to my booklet ‘So You
Want To Be A Guitar God’. This is a guitar tuition guide
written in layman’s terms in an attempt to simplify the process
of learning to get to grips with your axe.

In this booklet you will find lots of lessons, tips and hints to
help you play the guitar. Weather you want to be a chart topper,
busk in your local shopping precinct, or woo your loved one,
this book will help you do it.

So let me introduce myself. I’m Paul. I have been playing
guitar for around 35 years covering all styles. My main
styles are Folk, Blues, Surf Rock and Rockabilly. All of these
styles lend to an easy laid back way of playing which is quite
achievable by the novice guitarist. I have many influences such
as Robert Johnson, The Ventures, The Shadows, Hank Marvin,
Ry Cooder, Eric Clapton, The Stray Cats and loads more.

Anyway, that’s enough about me, this book is about you. I must
point out that it doesn’t matter weather you have never touched
a guitar before or whether you are a budding Eric Clapton, The
main thing is to pick up your guitar and start playing. I will try
to give tips to those that already play as well as teach the very
basics for the raw beginner.

I must also warn you that I intend to make this as fun as
possible so I’ll apologise in advance for my cheesy sense of
humour at times. I write as I speak.

So with all of that in mind, let’s get started!! Also remember
that Rome wasn’t built in a day and practice makes perfect!!!
