Chaque chapelle est un monde à part, orné de retables en stuc, de statues polychromes, de tableaux pieux, et parfois de reliques familiales.
UN CHŒUR MAJESTUEUX, EMPREINT DE FASTE LITURGIQUE.
Le chœur, véritable cœur battant de l’église, frappe par son autel en bois doré, encadré de deux anges orants, et dominé par un grand tableau offert par Napoléon III, illustrant Sainte Marie l’Égyptienne nourrie par les anges. On y trouve également des œuvres évoquant saint Dominique, le Rosaire, saint Louis en Égypte, et une série de stalles en noyer finement sculptées par l’ébéniste Granier. La séparation liturgique entre nef et sanctuaire est marquée par une grille de communion en fer forgé, chef-d’œuvre de finesse qui structure l’espace sans l’entraver.
UN ORGUE VIVANT, UNE MÉMOIRE SONORE...
Sur la tribune, un orgue Cavaillé-Coll d’époque veille encore sur l’église. Son buffet sobre, protégé par une grille ouvragée, prolonge la discrète harmonie de l’ensemble. Il accompagne les grandes célébrations comme les silences.
Each chapel is a world of its own, adorned with stucco altarpieces, polychrome statues, devotional paintings, and sometimes personal relics from local families.
A MAJESTIC CHOIR
AND LITURGICAL SPLENDOR
The choir, the church’s sacred heart, impresses with its gilded wooden altar, framed by two kneeling angels and surmounted by a large painting donated by Napoleon III, portraying Saint Mary of Egypt being nourished by angels. Nearby artworks depict Saint Dominic, the Rosary, and Saint Louis in Egypt. A set of wooden choir stalls, finely crafted by local cabinetmaker Granier, lines the sanctuary. Separating the nave from the chancel, an elegant 18th-century communion rail in wrought iron adds grace without obstructing the view.
A LIVING ORGAN, A SOUNDING MEMORY
Above the entrance, the Cavaillé-Coll organ still watches over the space. With its sober wooden casing and delicate ironwork grille, it resonates not only with music but with memory—marking grand ceremonies as well as silences.
