SAINT ANDIOL
JEAN MOULIN MURAL
At the crossroads of rd7n and Jean Moulin road, the municipality had a 140 m2 mural made to honor Jean Moulin, a great resistance ghter during World War II. This mural was inaugurated on May 26, 2012 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of his parachute landing in the Alpilles on January 2, 1942.
SAINT VINCENT CHURCH
This building is also attributed to the Abbots of Saint-Victor. In the 11th century, it was a simple Romanesque-style chapel which was later forti ed. It contains a stunning amboyant Gothic ciborium,
a owering art of the 15th century, of rare beauty. The church was classi ed as a «Historic Monument» on May 18, 1908.
MONUMENTS
THE ST-ANDIOL CASTLE
This former grand residence with a massive and important appearance has successively belonged to the families
of d’Albe, de Varadier, and d’Estourmel through the marriage of the daughters of each of them. Once a lively center, it is now, through its role as a socio-cultural center, the intellectual beacon and guardian of the traditions of the village of Saint-Andiol.
SAINT-CROSS CHAPEL
Built between 989 and 1000 AD, this place of worship
is one of the oldest purely Romanesque monuments
in the region. It is a place
of worship for the Black Penitents and is said to have been built by the monks of the Abbey of Saint Victor in Marseille. It was classi ed as a historical monument on November 24, 1921.
CITY HALL
On June 26, 1514, Jérôme de Varadier bought a house with
a Renaissance-style courtyard. On the facade, he had the coat of arms with three rings of his family sculpted. In 1650,
Mr. Villard bought the hotel and turned it into an important post relay. In the following century, it became the Auberge de France. In 2001, it was bought by the municipality
to become the new City Hall
in 2008.
JEAN MOULIN
MUSEUM «MEMORIES OF MY COUNTRY
The Jean Moulin Museum provides visitors with all the keys to understanding, in an interactive way, the journey of a life: a story born in Provence, before taking national and European paths, serving humanist ideals until the ultimate sacri ce.
This museum is an unprecedented dive into the life of Jean Moulin. Housed

his Provençal and Saint-Andiol roots, his family, his childhood, his student years, his passion for drawing and painting,
his role as a prefect, and his involvement in the resistance. With over 200 m2 of exhibitions, 200 rare photos, archives, period objects, and lms,
a cockpit of the plane that parachuted Jean Moulin over the Alpilles on January 2, 1942, has been reconstructed with realistic sound and visuals. It

in the resistance. «Memories of my country» is how Jean Moulin referred to Saint-Andiol, the birthplace of his parents. Open all year round from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am to 12:00pm and from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Closed on Mondays, Sundays and public holidays. Admission fee : 5d.
