Prior Authorization Appeal Letters
To help member allergists obtain prior authorization for
their patients’ medications, the College features a Prior
Authorization Toolkit on college.acaai.org. The main
component of the toolkit is an interactive, customizable
prior authorization appeal letter generator with a library
of letters for specific medication/disease combinations.
We would like to expand the library to include
additional medication/disease combinations to facilitate
insurance approval of these medications.
Experts from the College’s science committees will work
to create each evidence-based appeal letter complete
with literature references and patient-specific details.
Allergists, or their office staff, simply enter patient
and insurance company information, including past
treatments that were unsuccessful and/or alternative
treatments recommended by the insurance company,
and a secure, customizable prior authorization appeal
letter is generated.
