Practice Management
With the rapidly changing health care environment, the role of practice management is of increasing importance to members and their staff. As part of the Vision Forward initiative, the College invests in a comprehensive practice management program which provides members with the essential tools, resources and skills to understand and successfully adapt to these industry changes. Our resources range from online toolkits to webinars to online educational modules – all with the best, most current practice management information available.

Prior Authorization Appeal Letters
To help member allergists obtain prior authorization for their patients’ medications, the College features a Prior Authorization Toolkit on college.acaai.org. The main component of the toolkit is an interactive, customizable prior authorization appeal letter generator with a library of letters for specific medication/disease combinations. We would like to expand the library to include additional medication/disease combinations to facilitate insurance approval of these medications.
Experts from the College’s science committees will work to create each evidence-based appeal letter complete with literature references and patient-specific details. Allergists, or their office staff, simply enter patient
and insurance company information, including past treatments that were unsuccessful and/or alternative treatments recommended by the insurance company, and a secure, customizable prior authorization appeal letter is generated.
$27,000 per letter
Short, focused non-CME online educational modules (approximately 15 minutes each) on specific practice management topics such as: no shows, using a scribe, improving practice operational efficiency, survival strategies for independent practices, hiring and staffing, managing employees, continuous improvement, creating staff job instructions, standing orders and protocols, etc. The interactive modules reside in
the College Learning Connection and can include multimedia assets and downloadable tools. Topics could include license-based content (MGMA or specialty society) augmented with allergy/immunology specific practice examples.
