AGELESS MARTIAL
ARTS OUR VISION
We as a martial arts school value of the idea of
heart first, a technique later. I know it might sound
crazy, but people must find a love for what they
do before they continue forward with it. I always
felt that if you hate something, your never going
to continue to do it. Is not martial arts the same
way? Think how much time a child has to develop
their skills, in most cases years, they are focusing
on single technique but variations of it so they get
it right. This term is called “disguised repetition”.
This is the creative idea that you take one tech-
nique but you do it over and over again in different
patterns or different scenarios.
For some, it might be too simple, too repetitive,
but isn’t the challenge of a child learning based
on doing something without getting bored of it.
Bruce Lee said it the best, which I know this quote
is used a lot in our industry, “ I fear not the man
who knows 10,000 techniques, but I fear the man
who has the done the technique 10,000 times…”
So what makes our school so different? What is
our movement through in the martial arts world?
Myself as a sensei feel that Karate gets to be passed
down in a different way. Through the eyes of fun,
great service and effectiveness in the martial arts.
It is the idea that we show people that not only a
dojo is just about strict training rules and fighting,
but it is friendly, inviting and never judgmental.
That failure happens. Parents should teach their
children failure that in order to work for what they
want they must earn their stripe and every belt.
They must do it with effort, and as teachers, in
each of our communities, we should not be afraid
to give them a standard that challenges them as
students. The community is established by giving
back, and if you serve people well more people
will talk about your services. By having an amaz-
ing class, great culture and an effective curriculum
our vision as a martial arts school is to show Sho-
tokan Karate can be taught in a professional way
that is still effective.
