The Straight Thrust was the primary technique used in tra-
ining to disable or kill an opponent. It is the most deadly
offensive technique because it causes the most trauma to
an opponent. To execute the straight thrust the left leg was
lifted and lunged forward off the ball of the right foot whi-
le thrusting the blade end of the weapon forward, directly
toward and into the opponent. After execution the basic
warrior or ready stance is taken.

A Slash to the the opponent’s neck. head, or shoulder were
practiced. The slash was a technique used if the straight
thrust was not applicable or the opponent moved. The
slash reminded me of the sword fighting movies I watched
as a kid. When it worked it was great! Don’t get shot or a
             thrust from the enemy.
