Israel making it into a business, which made it much more popular. This is when Kapap died a little bit. In 1998
or 1999 my friend Master Moshi Galisco decided to bring Kapap back and set up the system and curriculum for
IKA (International Kapap Association) in honor of his uncle and dad. One man’s idea spread around the world
and became very popular, today it is taught in about 30 countries.

What are some of the differences between Krav Maga and Kapap?

The differences are very subtle. Both are combat arts but Kapap was specifically designed for military
type or Policing type situations where the trainee is fully equipped for combat tactical situations much like Police
officers and and soldiers on the battlefield. As a matter of fact, many S.W.A.T. teams, police officers that handle
riots, and combat security people like to train in Kapap, find Kapap training more practical for them.Krav Maga
is a great system and more well known and many of the same principles apply but it is now practiced more for
urban combat situations and thus more widely practiced. Both

traditional arts will always be the core of Krav maga and kapap
but we have to adapt them to the changing times and as we
evolve more so does kapap and Krav Maga.

Why did you develop Kapap street smarts?

Kapap street smarts was developed as a branch of Kapap more
focused on self defense in urban and suburban settings. Our
Kapap motto is to “Inflict the maximum amount of damage with
Minimum effort”. It is designed for anyone who wanted to learn
practical self defense. In a self defense situation, we are not
there to fight but to protect ourselves and our loved ones against
common attacks. You don’t have to be a big brute to defend
against one. You just need to develop attributes both physical
and emotional that helps you deal with violent attacks. First and
