I was born it was enough to feel my whole
             body shaking with emotion.

Cuba is a country that changes little. Many
say that is frozen in time. For martial arts

this happens as well. What the US calls the
old school, in Cuba people continue to tra-
in with the same fever of the 70’s and 80’s.
The truth is that the martial arts on the is-
land keep an exquisite essence to old.

It gave me great joy to see my old students
how despite the time and the difficulties of
life they keep training, the new students

made me very good impression, they have
that spirit of beginner (soshin), that you
want to know everything and you are at-
tentive and focused on each explanation,
this energy is always positive in a class.

I wanted to share with readers of Martial
Science Magazine my trip to Cuba, becau-
se despite the dojos look damaged, its walls
