AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR I VISITED
FLORIDA, THERE I VISITED DIFFERENT TEA-
CHERS OF CUBAN ORIGIN, ALL OF THEM
WITH EXTENSIVE MARTIAL EXPERIENCE.
I MET WITH GM JOSE CUSPINERA, FOUN-
DER OF KANSEN RYU, WITH WORLD JUDO
CHAMPION IN OSAKA JAPAN 2003, AMA-
RILIS SAVON, AND ALSO HAD THE OPPOR-
TUNITY TO VISIT SIFU FRANK ROSELL FOUN-
DER OF THE PERPETUAL DEFENSE MARTIAL
ARTS SYSTEM. ALSO, I MET MY VERY DEAR
STUDENTS, IGNACIO DAVID RAMIREZ AND
RAFAEL POLANCO.

Every time I travel to Florida I visit the A. Kolychkine Judo Foundation. There teaches
the GM. José Cuspinera, founder of Kansen Ryu. I was a student of Eduardo Nordelo
Fundora, who was a student of Maestro Cuspinera. When my teacher passed away I
continued learning everything I could from Maestro Cuspinera. Every time we meet,
I always learn something new, his experience, methodology, philosophy and his mas-
tery does not cease to amaze me.

This time he showed me how was his training with the makiwara. Without leaving
anything in the dark he showed me his personal hardening training and the imple-
ments that he uses daily for this practice. Although I cannot leave more details of
this practice because I do not have the permission to make it public, here I leave
some photos of this meeting with Grand Master José Cuspinera
