GREEN HYDROGEN CERTIFICATION
Green Hydrogen Certification
Need for Green Hydrogen Certification
o With the introduction of green ammonia to the world, ammonia as a commodity is expected to be priced differently based on the nature of its production. The production of hydrogen should be free from carbon emissions in order to make classify the output as green ammonia.
o The massive deployment and uptake of green hydrogen and ammonia, as well as the establishment of national, regional and international green hydrogen markets, will depend on the widespread acceptance of green certifications verifying zero carbon emissions associated with its production.
o Independently-issued, credible certifications for green ammonia can help consumers identify the carbon-free attributes of the ammonia bought.
PEG commits to obtaining the green certification for the ammonia plant, and is undertaking the necessary process to obtain such certifications. It is studying the certification guidelines being developed by the relevant green hydrogen/ammonia certification authorities globally, and developing the plant to cater to these requirements
One such green certification that PEG will target is by TÜV Rheinland. TÜV Rheinland is providing active support for the development of hydrogen as an energy carrier of the future. It has developed a new practice-oriented specification for the certification of green hydrogen: the TÜV Rheinland Standard H2.21 Carbon-Neutral Hydrogen. It allows the manufacturer, distributor and user of carbon- neutral hydrogen to document its environmentally friendly production
