Green Hydrogen Certification
TÜV Rheinland Certification
The following criteria must be met for the purchase of electricity:-
o Demonstrably originating from plants for the
generation of electricity from renewable energies
o The electrolysis plant has a maximum number of full
utilization hours of 5,000 hours within one calendar year
In addition, one of the following two criteria must be met: Option 1: Electricity supplied to the electrolysis plant via a public grid must meet the following criterion:
Certification and cancellation of Guarantees of Origin (according to the Regulation on the Implementation of Guarantees of Origin and Regional Guarantees of Origin) with indication of optional coupling (according to the Regulation on the Implementation of Guarantees of Origin and Regional Guarantees of Origin) for installations in the territory.
Option 2: Electricity delivered to the electrolysis facility via a direct line from a renewable generation facility, and thus not via a public grid, must meet the following criterion: The electricity consumption of the electrolysis plant must be completely covered, in relation to an interval of 15 minutes, by a renewable electricity generation plant connected to a direct line.

Submission of required documents
For example: Description of your production or distribution processes, Quantity records of energy flows and media flows, CO2 loads from raw materials/upstream chains
Review of calculations
Review of submitted documents for completeness, plausibility and consistency with established norms and standards as part of a “desk review”
(Remote) Audit
Review of submitted data and information through an on-site audit at the customer’s premises; alternatively, remote audit via video call and screen sharing
Procedure
Audit report
Review of the data based on the certification standard and documentation of the results in a test report
Certificate and award of test mark
If the test was completed successfully, the certificate is issued, and the test mark is rewarded with applicable “key words” such as “Green Hydrogen”
Recertification
Annual repeat audit as part of the regular surveillance
