Dr. Evangelos (Angie) Poulos
Dr. Evangelos (Angie) Poulos passed away this past March at the age of 66. A UM
educated undergraduate and medical student and Jackson trained pathologist,
Angie was a beloved teacher in Dermatopathology for UM Dermatology
residents, for well over 30 years. His weekly conference held at the Miami VA
was among the highlights of dermatopathology training. Showing spectacular
cases that he had accumulated in his busy practice, his fast moving session
challenged the most experienced of attendees and led everyone present to
greater knowledge. Without compensation, he also willingly consulted on the
VA’s most challenging Dermatopathology Cases. Those that trained with Angie
learned the skin from the inside out. Dr. Poulos was honored on ‘too numerous
to count’ occasions by graduating classes for his great teaching. Angie combined his love for, passion
for, and talent in Dermatopathology with great business acumen. He built on more than one occasion,
the most successful of Dermatopathology labs. Those that read with him on a regular basis also knew of
some of his other passions including his family, horse breeding, his morning drink of Coca Cola sitting at
the microscope and the importance of his close relationships in his life. Early Friday mornings at UM and
the Miami VA, will never feel the same.
