Why You Should Consider Using
an Advisor
When approaching retirement, some investors are dealing with
a most basic question: “Should I manage my own retirement
accounts or assets, or use an advisor?” Over the last 25 years,
the emergence of discount brokers and mutual funds sold
directly to investors has convinced many people to go it alone.
For most, I think this is a major mistake.
As discussed in the previous chapter, investors have access to
the same information as financial advisors because everything
is available online now. The difference is what individual
investors do with that information. Most investors’ returns
are far more dependent on their actions than on the actual
performance of the investments they choose. Here are a few
reasons that you should use a financial advisor to help manage
your retirement assets:
