               Vaccination The administration of an antigen (vaccine) to stimulate
                    a protective immune response against an infectious agent. The
                    term is synonymous with immunization.


               Vaccine A suspension of living or inactivated organisms used as an
                    antigen to confer immunity.


               Variable region That part of the immunoglobulin or TCR peptide
                    chains in which the amino acid sequence shows significant
                    variation among molecules.


               Vasculitis Inflammation of blood vessel walls.


               Vasoactive molecules Molecules that cause changes in local blood
                    flow such as those observed during inflammation.


               Virion A virus particle.


               Virokine Proteins encoded by viruses that mimic cytokine
                    activities.


               Virulence The ability of an organism to cause disease.

               Xenograft A graft between two animals of different species.


               Xenohybridoma A hybridoma formed by fusing plasma cells and
                    myeloma cells from two different species (for example, mouse
                    and bovine).
