Company Sick Pay Policy
The Company believes in rewarding colleagues who choose to grow their careers with us, as well as understanding that there are times when we all do become ill and need support.
As a result of the 2022 benefits review, the Company has taken
the decision to introduce Company Sick Pay (CSP) to support colleagues when they become unwell, in line with our Financial Wellbeing policy. Any payments made in accordance with this scheme are made entirely at the discretion of the Company and in accordance with the rules
of the scheme as outlined below.
Eligibility to receive Company sick pay
Colleagues who have successfully completed their probationary period and have complied with the Absence Reporting Procedure are eligible to receive Company Sick Pay (subject to the scheme rules, listed below). If a colleague does not comply with the correct reporting procedure, then the Company reserves the right to not pay the colleague CSP.
If you are unsure as to what this is for your department, please discuss with your manager.
The Company Sick Pay ensures that colleagues will receive basic pay
for each day that they are unfit to work through illness or injury. This is subject to two waiting days, whereby the first two days are unpaid. For all colleagues, only scheduled working days will be taken into account when calculating waiting days; for example, if a colleague works Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and calls in sick for the week, then only Friday will attract a CSP payment.
All CSP entitlement will be subject to a 12-month rolling period.
The maximum amount of Company Sick Pay that can be paid to any colleague is outlined below in any rolling 12-month period, and any payment made in respect of CSP does not set a precedent for future payments. The Company reserves the right to withdraw the CSP scheme with fair notice. Once you have exhausted your Company Sick Pay,
only SSP will be payable (where eligible).
You may not be eligible to receive any allowances in respect of bonuses or any other enhancements to your normal pay whilst you are unable to work through sickness or injury. Such payments will be assessed on a complete week basis i.e., if you are absent for a full week then any payment will be reduced on a pro-rata basis for each complete week of absence.
Please note that the Company will try its best to pay CSP in the month that sickness occurs and deductions occur. However, that might not be always possible. In these circumstances, CSP will be paid in the following month’s payroll. There is no right of appeal regarding this. Please note if CSP is paid in error, then the Company reserves the right to claim the overpayment in full in the first available pay run (after the error is identified). If the colleague has left the Company, then the Company reserves the right to request payment in full to balance any overpayment.
