a day I wILL aLwayS remember
I always thought it was better to receive than to give, until one day I realized it was much better the other way around. My family went to donate clothes and other items to the homeless shelter frequently.
One year ago, we went to the homeless shelter in Cheras and donated toys and clothes. It was my birthday and my parents wanted me to donate all the clothing that I had outgrown as well as toys that I no longer played with. I did not really mind because of the new toys I got for my birthday were better, especially one in particular.
My favourite gift was the Lego Star Wars Figurine. I really enjoy building Lego, but my mom did not me to start building it while we were in the car because she was worried, I will loose the piece in the seats. I liked just looking at the box anyway, seeing the clone trooper on great, big, gray walker. It was a challenge not to open box, but I was able to resist. However, I could picture myself at home building the walker. After I finished, I marched around with the clone- riding walker pretending to slay the enemy.
We finally got to the homeless shelter and it was a very sad sight to see. It was kind of dark and gloomy at first and I didn’t even see the people inside. However, when we went further inside, I saw some kids and adults moping around the dark room with frown on their faces and nothing to do , The sight of their faces was saddening to me and that made me feel very pitiful and then I decided to do something I thought that no one including me had ever done before. I took hold of my Lego set and dropped it right into the donation bin. After I did that, my sadness turned into pride, raising my spirit ten fold.
I felt like a good and generous kid in this dark place. I felt like I was the sun shining on a bright summer day.
I will never forget the feeling of donating my toys to someone who needed it more that I did. As much as I wanted that Lego trooper, his command was elsewhere to make some other kid happy. even though I would have liked to keep the toy, a boy or girl at a homeless shelter would enjoy it five times more than I would. Even if I got another one, I still would donate it for the better cause and let another kid enjoy it because I already have what I need. I will keep donating things because its’ better to give that receive. No law of life is more important in my life that the gift of giving.

It has always been an annoying fact that we humans are somehow unable to appreciate time especially when we are all enjoying when we are all enjoying ourselves thinking that time will always be waiting for us instead of we waiting for it, unfortunately, the reality remains clear that we’ve been victims of these false assumptions which had landed many of us in troubles at times when we didn’t expect them coming. One word could sum up the whole scenario which many of us hate to be corrected at, and even with the whole world on our shoulders that requires a lot of time and patience towards a certain tasks, we are still somehow stubborn and oblivious to the consequences despite going through them again and again, more serious than the other each time it happens, and that is procrastination.
We have been warned and taught numerous times and on many occasions that we should not procrastinate, for example in our textbooks, from our teachers, friends, commercials and even from our parents’ own mouths, but the term procrastination seems to be hanging amongst our lives without a single shred of hope that it will disappear once and for all. However, it should not be associated directly with laziness because hardworking people do at times tend to procrastinate on the grounds that they might have more commitments to work on, a nearer deadline, or the urgency to place that task above the rest. It shouldn’t be seen as a form of negativity or a piece of incomplete puzzle in the lives of us, but rather it should be viewed as a part of human nature, a complex puzzle which philosophers couldn’t explain merely in a few words. However, human nature also involves the ever desire for humans to be better everyday such as the advancement in technology. Similarly, the human brain captures the fact that procrastination indeed dwells in our lives which lead to the long journey towards eliminating it one day, and that is also why I am in the league with many others who feel the importance in changing this personal habit. It might be a built-in characteristics of almost every single human being, but we can still change it somehow.
Procrastination is tied up with many other characteristics of human beings and could not act solely without the rest of our habits acting as an input which leads to procrastination. It involves the thoughts of delaying things, or commitments entrusted to us by finding all sorts of excuses to delay them until we run out of choices. Unfortunately, by the time we run out of choices to further delay those work, it will be too late and we will be in trouble. It is extremely painful to understand, accept, and acknowledge the fact that we are somehow cunning in finding ways to prevent ourselves from completing a certain tasks through procrastination, and it usually factors in things such as our loss
