“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”
The 2019 school magazine is a milestone that marks our growth, unfolds our imagination and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations. It unleashes a wide spectrum of creative thinking skills ranging from writing to editing and even in designing the magazine. I congratulate the Editorial team for their hard work and dedication that has resulted in the publication of this issue.
Methodist Boys’ Secondary School Kuala Lumpur (MBSSKL) is one of the leading and most sought institutions among students in the city of Kuala Lumpur as it imparts quality education and produces world class citizens. As we complete 122 years of yeoman services, what comes to our mind is success comes to those who work hard and stays with those who don’t rest in their past laurels.
We live today in a world that is so very different from the one we grew up in. The world today is changing at such an accelerated rate and we as educators need to pause and reflect on the entire education system. Therefore in curriculum development, MBSSKL has adopted the right and most comprehensive curriculum which is well in place after the initial
years of trial and transition. In an effort to cater to students’ diverse interests and needs, we have further widened our students’ subject choices by introducing International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) English Language and Sciences Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Hence, we at MBSSKL are working at implementing a well-balanced curriculum to ensure that the children who walk into the portals of our school will not just love their school years but truly be prepared to face life’s challenges.
Fortunately, we have a committed and supportive management team, dedicated teachers together with caring and co-operative parents, who blend harmoniously to create a child-centric learning atmosphere. It is natural to find in this ambience, the intensive use of a variety of thinking activities, strategic participation and group dynamics which will eventually make MBSSKL progress forward with solid effort.
Looking ahead, MBSSKL is starting the preparation for the 123 anniversary celebration in 2020 which we see as a great opportunity to bring the past and the present of the school together to count the many blessings that our Lord Jesus Christ has showed unto us.”Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)
