On the occasion of 5th Anniversary of Thai Tuna Industry Association

The Thai Tuna Industry Association was found on 25th July 2013 aiming to de-
velop vision, mission and activities that benefit all of its members and
general public. Our vision is that the Thai Tuna Industry grows sustainably through
promoting food safely, sustainable fishing, good labour practice and using quality
fish products supplied by legal and sustainable sources. The Association aims to
produce fish products with quality that meet the global standards which are
endorsed by the market worldwide. The Association also collects and
disseminates information and other statistical data related to tuna industry, trade
barriers, international standards, agreements and collaboration with government
to ensure that its members are fully equipped with necessary information relating
to the industry.
Among others, key success factor of Thai tuna industry is qualified
personnel. The Association has conducted training sessions for the personnel to
disseminate information to our members. This year in 2018, the Association focuses
our efforts in improving its website which will become an information center that
can provide information relating to international updates in a comprehensive and
timely manner. As 95% of Thailand’s tuna products are exported to market world-
wide, it is therefore crucial for us to be well equipped with up-to-date
information, scientifically and commercially. In the meantime, the Association has
established collaboration with Department of Fishery, Ministry of Commerce and
other agencies to ensure that we all together address concerns that raised by
international community, and that our members comply with domestic laws and
international standards on labour issues and food security which will enhance
ethical and sustainable export industry.
On 29th July 2018, the occasion of the 5th anniversary that the Thai Tuna In-
dustry Association has been established and operated, I would like to express my
sincere gratitude to all the Association’s board of directors and our members for
jointly and continuingly contribute and support the Association’s work so that
TTIA has grown alongside the Thai tuna industry. I also express my genuine ap-
preciation to all staff members of TTIA for your hard work which contribute tre-
mendously to the growth of the association.
