around. The energy you gave off during the season helped keep the pit rolling even when morale got low. Stay bassi, my friend. It’s been workin for ya.
To Mia: YOU ARE SUCH A PURE SOUL!!! You never cease to put forth your most genuine version of yourself, and that version is caring, kind, and just a great person to be around. When everything’s going crazy, I could always look to you as an anchor that kept us all grounded. I really don’t have much to say other than, thank you.
To Natalie: NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC! Natalie to say I am proud of you would be the grossest understatement of the decade. The amount of growth you have undergone both as a performer and as a person is quite frankly ridiculous. You’ve become a huge personality within the front ensemble, and an incredible leader. You helped take this pit to new levels in terms of responsibility and musicianship, and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to perform with you for three seasons. I am beyond excited to see just where you will take this pit next year, and even more excited to see what the future holds for you.
To Teddy: Ah yes, my surrogate little. Not gonna lie, when I first met you last Fall, I had no idea we were going to develop the friendship we have now. Today though, I couldn’t imagine not being friends with you. Our friendship has redefined the phrase “two-way street”. I’ve helped you with a lot, yes, but you’ve helped me with even more. Words cannot truly express how excited I was when I heard you were going to be joining the pit on bass guitar. You were so shaky on it at first, but you put so much time into it and truly became an essential member of the group by the end of the season. I am so goddamn proud and grateful to have you as my friend. Thank you for the “grub sessions” where we get to just shoot the shit about our days and just take an hour to chill out. Thank you for every single time you’ve talked some sense into me and given me advice or just lent an ear. Thank you for being one of the most genuine and kind people I’ve ever met. Never lose that selfless nature. Never forget to step back and take stock of all you’ve done, and APPRECIATE IT. You are an incredible person, and I can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future. Understandable, have a great day.
To Andrew Gkonos: WAH! Real talk though, you are so goddamn funny and every conversation we have is a treasure. How we manage to go from talking about something benign to something just completely out there is a talent even I can’t really understand. Thanks for the late night adventures and the craziness man. In truth, it gives me an escape from the crazy stress of the week, and I need that more than I can admit sometimes. Stay bendy my guy. Stay bendy.
To Sam D’Amore: You’re right, life really is like a big beard.
To Oscar: My Surf amigo! When I first heard that you were coming to UD, I was insanely excited, because you were one of those dudes that I wished I had been better friends with when we marched together in ’18. You are such a talented and awesome person to be around, and I’m really proud of the growth you’ve undergone this season. Keep at it man, you are gonna do some great things!
To Alec: Your passion for what you love and the amount you care for the people around you is truly inspiring. Never doubt yourself, because you are SO much more capable than you think you are.
To Tom Waggner: THE OG BENDY! I’ll never forget the 3 hour talk we had at the fountain. I think we both really got a lot out of that conversation. You continue to surprise me, again and again, with your motivation, your dedication, and your energy. I am so proud of the person you are becoming, both as a marching member, and as a brother in Sinfonia. Keep that fire burning, brother, because it is burning BRIGHT.
