“Don’t wish away game days. Before you know it, you’ll be halfway through the season of your Junior year, wondering where the time went.” – advice given to me Freshman year from a Junior on the snare line, after I expressed my desire for the game to be over. At the time I had no idea just how true statement would be, but these four years went by in a flash. All that’s left are a handful of YouTube videos and a boatload of memories. Many a schtick were schtuck, and many diddles were played, and I am especially grateful for the opportunity the UDMB has given me to learn and grow as a musician and person over the last four years.
Shout out to Johnna McGreevy, for being the worst cymbal holder, co-instructor, section leader, and friend, I’ve ever known—I can’t believe I’m even giving you a shout out.
Shout out to Drew Hunt, Megan Atkinson, and Allison Harten for choosing UDel after our time playing drums at Unionville—way to keep the legacy alive.
Huge shout out to former roommate and incredible friend, Steven Gelberg, a genuinely inspiring leader, whose zany antics I have the highest level of respect for.
Special thanks to my fellow Senior and current roommate, Josh Huynh, for sticking it out with me four seasons in a row. Your sense of humor always gets me, and I’m glad I finally got to stand next to you this year, even if you did give Josh “lyin’ like a rug” Lyon more attention than me.
And finally, an extra big thanks to Mike Windish—the man who instructs people first how to think, and then how to drum.
