Page 49 - 2019 UDMB Senior Will
P. 49

Being a super senior is weird. You kinda forget that this is the last year. Last season, I went through the motions and put it in my mind that that was my last season. I hadn’t yet figured out if I would be able to do band this year. This year has all been about living up every moment and not having any worries in the world. It didn’t really hit me that this year was it until after our Allentown performance where one of my rookie buddies said: “Oh, that was your last performance at Allentown wasn’t it?” Then everything hit me and I realized that this was it.
To the Flutts: I flove you all with everything I have. I’ve always said that this section was my family, but this year I really felt that. Each and every one of you has changed my life. I am so honored and proud to have been in this section this year. I’m still pretty positive that part of my mind is still living in Amy 208. No matter what, never forget that the Bells are fake, everything’s a mirage, Keith is Kevin Jonas, and Steven’s a hologram. I flove you all!
To the Freshman Flutes (Gwen, Carl, Chris, Rae, Parker, Swetha, Amanda, Audrey, Ally, Kay, and Mary): Your energy is going to change this section for good. Each of you brings so much love (now flove) to everything you do. I am so thankful for you all. I hope that you’ve had the best time this year. I hope that you all continue on with the UDMB; enjoy every minute of it. You are at the start of a great adventure that will be your escape for the next four (or if you're like me 5) years of college.
To the Sophomore Flutes (Emily C., Emily H., Cami, Jess, Chioma): You’ve officially made it halfway through college. Can you even believe that last year you were so new to everything? Your class is the driving force that will keep pushing this section to the best. You are who the rookies next year are going to look towards for direction. It is up to you all to keep the flove flowing.
To the Junior Flutes (Jessica, Sarah, Taira, Jazmynne): Guess what? You did it. You’re back at the top. You know what that means though right? Next year you will be here writing your Senior Will and saying goodbye to the UDMB. It’s closer than you think. Put aside any drama or stress you have and really live in the moment. Also, Val and I were not kidding; there is a curse on the senior flutes. Try to end that streak next year! Best of luck to you all in your futures!
To the Piccolos: Wow you are all so amazing. The front arc really has it all together. Thank you for being my mini-family within the larger family. I am so proud of each and every one of you for not only making the line but then continuing to push yourself to be better players. Please keep the rowing alive. There are so many places out there that we’ve yet to explore. PicLove? Flove?
To Val Pascale: The last surviving senior of 2020! I am so grateful for you. You have changed my viewpoint on life and have really changed the flute section for the better. Currently, I’m struggling to write this because I might cry. You have touched my life in such an amazing way. You have made me a better person this year. Your totally willingness and readiness to help anyone and everyone is truly inspiring. You have opened my eyes to ideas and things that I’ve never thought about before. Thank you for being the best Flute Mom this section has seen in recent years. I’m so glad that we’ve gotten closer this year. I hope you know that I’m always going to be around if you ever need help writing another email or just need a friend to talk to. I flove you.
To Emily Certismo: The flute section is now yours. I know that you are going to continue to help this section grow and flourish. You are such a talented musician and I know that you will be a great asset to this section. You are one of the most caring people I’ve met. You are so willing to hear everyone out and you never want to make waves. I know that you are going to take this section and make it your own. I wish you all the luck as you continue on with your career! Flove.
