of you. Please... never give up and keep striving for more. Remember who you are and why you do this. Remember what it is all about. I hope your next two years bring you even more growth and lasting memories and I cannot wait to see what you do. You got it, girl. I grant you the title of Golden DeliciousTM, for those who are not pigment challenged and tan to golden deliciousness (I did not coin this term, I swear).
Ryan Meredith: Ryan, for some reason my eyes are tearing up as I think of what to say. I remember first meeting you and thinking you’d be a cool dude. I also remember that it was your birthday and I immediately informed you that you’d have to share with John. I really appreciate your passion for this section and for jumping right in like you found your home. I’ll never forget earlier this season when you said that sometimes it only takes a few minutes of our time to make a big difference. You were just talking about shining the bells for something, but it stuck with me. Even without a staff position, you’ve been a huge help to us. You always make me smile and laugh and it has kept me motivated some days. Thank you. I dub thee: Sargeant SauceTM. Though not an original BT title, I just created it and decided that it MUST be passed on. You just... drop the MOST sauce. That’s... that’s it.
Adam Scherr: Adam, my dude. I’m definitely gonna miss you, dude. To be honest, I could not tell what your Blue Thunder quality was when I met you at the audition. I was like, who is this guy, Tony Pepperoni? Boy, was I in for a rude awakening. The section wouldn’t be what it is without your spunk, your pizazz, your bug knowledge. Would we even have been able to keep Judith alive as long as we did? For real though, Adam, I have loved getting to know you better this year and I love hanging out with you. You’re hilarious and I can’t help but smile whenever I find myself around you. Thanks for being a cool dude. You shall be named Big DickTM, previously owned by John Preusse. You just have to show it off, Adam. It’s so big.
Nick Outten: I don’t even know what to say here, because I’m not planning to say any kind of goodbye to you anytime soon. My first impression of you was spending so long trying to find “James Outten” on social media to contact you for the rookie email and I was SO lost. Little did I know how many times you would frustrate me in the future. In fact, you just told me to shut up so you can continue watching your anime. Anyway... I’m so grateful that you decided to join Blue Thunder instead of going to Rome. I’ve learned a lot through this crazy year+ we’ve had together and I wouldn’t change any of it. We became friends so naturally that I couldn’t fight the feeling (even when I tried). Thanks for dealing with my shenanigans. You bring the right kind of silliness to Blue Thunder to fulfill the second S. You have so much potential inside you and I need you to bring it out. The section needs it, and so do the other people around you. Stop doubting and start believing. I’m so incredibly proud of how far you’ve come and I know you know that. Never stop striving and leaving room to grow. I truly can’t wait to see where the next 2 years take you. I give you the name Hip-ster, for a Blue Thunder member who’s a hipster boi in the streets and a hip-thrustin’ tuba player on ‘dem beats.
Racquel Hackman: Aw, Racquel, I can’t believe I’m writing these pseudo-goodbyes. I feel like we just met. From the moment you arrived on campus, literally, you have been nothing but resilient. You have the power to overcome any obstacle that is thrown your way and you are so incredibly strong, no matter what you think. Blue Thunder has needed someone like you to just... be a mom. Y’know? The only thing that I ask is that you remember to take care of yourself, too. Don’t push yourself, and don’t be a hero. Be safe and smart, the world needs you. That is why you will take on the title of Tuba DadTM. (Or Mom.) I don’t have to explain this one, do I? You make sure the kiddos are doin’ okay, have snacks, band-aids, strapped with goodies at all times... need I go on?
