Spiritual Perspectives in Health Care 1 Credit Hour
The course provides a holistic, Christian-based approach in creating awareness and
understanding about; 1) one’s own belief system; 2) the spiritual needs of patients; 3)
methodologies of spiritual care for patients, and 4) world religions and religious practices
specifically as they relate to delivery of healthcare. The course includes the following number of
contact hours: Theory – 15 contact hours.
SLPT 1002 2 Credit Hours
Medical Terminology I
This course covers the study of words that relate to the human body systems, anatomical
structures, pathology, and medical procedures. Word roots, combining forms, prefixes, suffixes,
pleural endings, abbreviations, symbols, and pronunciation will be introduced. Co-requisites for
this course include SLPT 1001, SLPT 1008, SLPT 1102 and SLPT 1104.
The course includes the following number of contact hours: Theory – 36 contact hours.
