requirements that enable the student to engage in educational and training activities in such a
way that will not endanger other students or the public, including patients. A specific copy of the
Essential Functions will be provided and must be signed by the student and a physician prior to
entry into the program. A more detailed list of the Essential Functions is available in the

Academics
Academic Progress
The school utilizes a grading system to signify student progression through the program of study.
A final letter grade is assigned for each course and practicum completed. The letter grade has a
corresponding rating that denotes the quality of student learning. A percent range is used to
determine the letter grade. Value points are used to calculate the Grade Point Average (GPA) and
for other purposes, such as honors awards at commencement and scholarship awards by the
Baptist Health Foundation and others.
An incomplete “I” grade may be made-up when the Program Director can schedule the time to
do so. The incomplete course work must be completed within the established time-frame,
otherwise the “I” grade becomes a final grade of “F.”
Academic and clinical students’ achievement is measured periodically by examinations,
assignments, and clinical performance.
