               Myxedema Coma


                  ▪ This rare but serious disorder results from persistently low thyroid production.
                  ▪ Coma can be precipitated by acute illness, rapid withdrawal of thyroid
                    medication, anesthesia and surgery, hypothermia, or the use of sedatives and
                    opioid analgesics.
