Nursing Interventions During an Acute Asthma
Episode
▪ Position the client in a high-Fowler’s position or sitting to aid in breathing.
▪ Administer oxygen as prescribed.
▪ Stay with the client to decrease anxiety.
▪ Administer bronchodilators as prescribed.
▪ Record the color, amount, and consistency of sputum, if any.
▪ Administer corticosteroids as prescribed.
▪ Administer magnesium sulfate as prescribed.
▪ Auscultate lung sounds before, during, and after treatments.
