                  ▪ Applied directly to the surface of a clean or surgically prepared wound; remains
                    in place until it falls off or is removed
                  ▪ Covering is transparent or translucent; therefore, wound can be inspected
                    without removing dressing.
                  ▪ Pain at the wound site is reduced because covering prevents contact of the
                    wound with air.


               Autograft


                  ▪ Skin taken from a remote unburned area of the client’s own body; transplanted
                    to cover burn wound
                  ▪ Graft placed on a clean granulated bed or over surgically excised area of the
                    burn
                  ▪ Provides for permanent skin coverage
