At this time the United Kingdom market was estimated at
£1 billion a year with a growth rate of 20 per cent per year.
Experience in hotel and leisure industries were seen as
invaluable and it appeared to be a particularly appropriate
course of action for a property-based business, as Andros
Stakis described the Group. The intention of the company
was to become a big player in the private nursing home
field. It was aiming for 1,500 beds by the end of 1990, 3,000
by the end of 1991 and in the long term, 5,000 beds on 50
sites.
Leisure Division
The title `Leisure Division' first appeared in the 1988 Annual
Report. In addition to the management of the casinos it was
given responsibility for restaurants, public houses and
discos and was set the objective of developing other
interests in the leisure industry.
