Observations

               Q1 What is Fraud?

A1 inducing a course of action by deceit or other

                       dishonest conduct

Planting bombs in order to influence share price

constitutes not only fraud also attempted murder

Almost all fraud involves the attempt to conceal the

crime and in this case the attempt was to pass off the

attack as an Islamist terrorist plot.

Wenergold’s plan was flawed from the outset. Placing

such a large bet could only attract the attention of the

authorities both legal and financial. Likewise, diverting

attention on to a terrorist group could only focus the

holistic nature of the security forces.

Q2 Why did Borussia Dortmund play the rescheduled

match with Monaco the day after the bombing?

A2 From the case material it would appear that the players

as well as the coach were unhappy with the decision.
But if we consider the coach as the CEO he was then

over-ruled by the equivalent of the chairman and

owners. It seems to have meant little that the club won

the DFB Pokal in May 2017. The coach was still fired.

Finance would appear to trump humanity?

Q3 Are football players simply assets on the Balance

                       Sheet?
