           Sample Space

-A sample soace is the set S ofall possible outcomes ofan experiment.
           -Sggp!9_pgint is a particular outcome i-e;an element of S
-Any subset of the sample space is called an evenl
-The event {a} consisting of a single element of S is called a simp !e event-

There are varieties of ways of representing mmple spaces:
               l - Listing outcomes

              Example:
List the sample space ofpossible outcomes foc
                  (a) tossing a coin
                  (b) rolling a die

              2. Two dimensional grid
              Example:

Illustrate the possible outcomes when 2 coins are tossed by using a 2-dimensional
              grid-

              J. Tree diagrams

              Example:
Illustrate using a tree diagram the possible outcomes when:
                 a- tossing two coins
b drawing two marbles from a bag containing many reds, green, and yellow
                     marbles
