Crowdfunding is a way of raising money by

asking a large number of people (the crowd) for
a small amount of money from each of member

of the crowd.

Traditionally funding a new idea or a new

venture involved asking the bank or a small

group of investors for large sums of money.

Crowdfunding switches this idea around, using

the internet to talk to hundreds – if not

thousands – of potential supporters.
