Use of Data Collected by the
Poison Center
The WVPC participates in the American Association of Poison
Control Center’s National Poison Data System (NPDS), the largest
poison exposure database in the United States.
De-identified data
collected is used to:
• Target problem areas
and adjust services
• Advance knowledge of
poisons and antidotes
• Teach health care
professionals and
students
• Provide necessary data
for product safety
regulation
