West Virginia Schools
The WVPC works closely with schools in West Virginia and consults
with the West Virginia Office of Healthy Schools.
The West Virginia Department of Education Policy 2422.8-Medication Administration requires that
the West Virginia Poison Center be contacted for the following:
-adverse drug reactions
-therapeutic errors
-drugs or medication overdoses
-epinephrine injections
-naloxone administration
WVPC School Service 2017:
West Virginia’s 755 schools
received information from
the WVPC by letter or email
Over 21,000 WVPC items
were used by WV schools
Over 21 poison prevention
presentations were delivered
to students in WV schools
Look-a-like display used for poison prevention
education at an elementary school .
