The WVPC works closely with schools in West Virginia and consults

with the West Virginia Office of Healthy Schools.

The West Virginia Department of Educa on Policy 2422.8‐Medica on Administra on requires that
the West Virginia Poison Center be contacted for the following:

‐adverse drug reac ons

‐therapeu c errors

‐drugs or medica on overdoses

‐epinephrine injec ons

‐naloxone administra on

WVPC School Service 2018:

West Virginia’s 684 public schools
received informa on from the WVPC
by le er or email

Over 12,500 WVPC items
were used by WV schools

Over 31 poison preven on
presenta ons were delivered

to students in WV schools

Look‐a‐like display used for poison preven on
educa on at an elementary school .
