Grace and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lent, a time we journey with Christ as he makes his way to the cross. Lent, a time
where some intentionally spend more time listening for God’s voice and pondering
how to become better disciples; a time to draw closer to God both personally and col-
lectively as a congregation. Lent, a time some choose to give up something to deep-
en their Lenten journey. Lent, a time when we come together on Wednesday eve-
nings to share a meal, sing the beautiful liturgy of the Holden evening worship service
accompanied by vocalists, a flute and clavinova and hear the unique stories of the
“Artisans of the Crucifixion.”
Our Lenten journey leads us to Jesus’ Last Supper and our servant act of washing
one another’s hands on Maundy Thursday and then on to his crucifixion on Good Fri-
day as we hear the “Passion of our Lord” accompanied by our choir. Our solemn jour-
ney turns to excitement as joyous proclamations of “Jesus Christ is risen, Alleluia,” fill
our sanctuary Easter Sunday morning.
How will our journey with Jesus impact us as he experienced ridicule, torture, and
death to pay the price for our sins? Will the realization of the depth of Christ’s love for
each of us and the promise of life eternal guaranteed through Christ’s death and res-
urrection motivate us to excitedly become involved in our church’s mission of
“Growing in Christ, Sharing God’s Word through Worship and Service?
