Thoughts from your SAM

As I read through the ELCA “Stories of Faith In Action” I wonder what our story, Trini-
ty’s “story of faith in action” would look like if published. First, how do we each articu-
late what our faith in God looks like, what does it feel like, how does it change us?
Honestly, it’s a bit of a challenge for me to put into words. I can define my faith with
the words of The Apostles Creed and with favorite hymns such as “My Hope is Built

on Nothing Less” and “Faith of Our Fathers” but that really doesn’t get to the depth of
my “personal” faith. How would you describe your faith in God to another? How can
we each feel more comfortable sharing our faith? Food for thought and possible future

         conversations with one another.

Back to my original question…it’s much easier to show what “faith in action” looks
like. I envision an article with pictures of our Blessing Boxes fully stocked with food
and non perishables, pictures of adults and youth harvesting fresh vegetables at 6:30
a.m. on Saturdays, washing and prepping, and filling CSA boxes along with new reci-

pes on Sunday mornings. Pictures of our members creating prayer shawls, quilts,
hats, potholders, dish rags, and embroidered crosses made with loving hands would
also be highlighted. Each of these ministries demonstrate a love for God that calls us

to serve and love our neighbors. We are making a difference in our community.

There’s another outreach ministry in the works that will hopefully be featured in our
“story of faith.” The council was “over the moon” when Coltin Rau came to council
Tuesday evening and proposed an idea to organize a youth ministry. His vision in-
cludes confirmed youth, high schoolers and perhaps college students who would

gather for fun activities, food, and Bible study relevant to their everyday life – a time to
chill, talk together and plan service projects. The students will invite their friends!!
(Evangelism) Please join us in praying adult leaders step forward to assist Coltin in
getting this exciting ministry up and running.
