1.3.4 Have and Have got:

In British English you can utilise both of 'have' and 'have

got'. In American English, you are more likely to utilise or hear

'have got'.

1.3.5 The delexical verbs:

Delexical verbs are in particular the verbs 'take' and 'have'.

This type of verbs take their meaning from the nouns they

collocate with, as indicated in the table below:

1.3.6 Modals and auxiliaries:

An auxiliary verb is the verb that comes before the main
verb, for instance, in the sentence 'I am eating a sandwich', 'am'
is the auxiliary. In British English, the auxiliary 'do' is often
utilised as a substitute for a verb when replying to a question.
