Socket Usage
Select the proper type of socket for the application.
• Hand Sockets - All chrome plated sockets and black finished sockets identified as hand sockets are for hand use only.
• Impact Sockets - Sockets designed for durability when used with impact drivers; use only impact sockets with impact drivers.
Wear safety goggles. (Users and bystanders)
Broken tools can cause injury.
Storage Units
• Storage units can tip or strike you.
Do not open more than one loaded drawer at a time. Keep children away.
Close lid and lock drawers and doors before moving. Apply brakes on locking casters when not
moving unit.
Do not step in or on drawers.
Secure units together with fasteners.
Read and follow instruction manual.
Tipping of storage unit or unit striking you can cause injury.
• Units edges can cut or pinch.
Do not pull; push to move.
Wear gloves when lifting by edges.
Keep feet and fingers clear of edges when stacking, hanging or moving units.
Unit edges can cause injury.
Striking and Struck Tools, Punches/Chisels
• Striking and struck tools can break or chip. Chipped or mushroomed punch and chisel ends or metal weakened by improper grinding can fragment.
Oversized hammer can chip the punch or chisel. Wear safety goggles. (Users and bystanders)
Do not use punch or chisel having mushroomed ends; dress edges or mushroomed ends to original shape with a hand file.
Hammer head diameter should be approximately 3/8" larger than head of punch or chisel.
Flying objects can cause injury.
• Steel punches and chisels can cause sparks during use. Do not use near flammable substance.
Flammable substances can ignite causing injury.
Power Tools
(impact wrenches, ratchets, hammers, sanders, grinders, cut-off tools)
• Power tools can cause flying particles
Wear safety goggles (user and bystanders).
Flying particles can cause injury.
• Power tools generate noise
Wear hearing protection (user and bystanders). Prolonged exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
• Power tools vibrate
Avoid prolonged exposure to vibration. Prolonged exposure to vibration can cause injury.
• Improper use of power tools and
accessories can cause broken tools
Do not use without all guards in place.
Use accessories rated at tool RPM or higher. Read and follow instructions before using power tools.
• Broken tools can cause injury.
Hammers
• Hammers can cause flying chips. Chipped, mushroomed or cracked hammers can cause flying chips. Glancing blows can cause flying chips. Striking hard surface can cause flying chips. Body hammers can chip or break if struck against hard surfaces.
Wear safety goggles. (Users and bystanders) Do not use chipped, mushroomed or cracked hammers.
Strike squarely and avoid glancing blows. Do not strike other hammers or similar
hard surfaces.
Use body hammers only for striking automotive type sheet metal; do not strike hard surfaces.
Flying chips can cause injury.

• COMPOTHANE® or urethane hammers can rupture or ignite if exposed to liquid oxygen.
Do not use COMPOTHANE® or urethane

urethane can cause injury.
Threading
• Threading and rethreading tools can cause flying chips.

Flying chips can cause injury.
Torque Testers
• Calibration weights can cause tester and its base to tip.
Wear safety goggles. (Users and bystanders) Counterbalance or anchor mounting base. Tipping base can cause injury.
Torque Wrenches
• Overtorquing can cause breakage. Wrench can break while breaking fasteners loose. Force against flex stops on flex head torque wrenches can cause head breakage. An out of calibra- tion torque wrench can cause part or tool breakage.
Wear safety goggles. (Users and bystanders) Do not exceed rated torque.
Do not use a torque wrench to break fasteners loose.
Do not force head of flex head torque wrenches against stops.
Periodic recalibration is necessary to
maintain accuracy.
Broken tools can cause injury.
Wrenches
• Excess force can cause crowfoot or flare nut
wrench slippage.
Do not over-torque, no pipes or lever extensions. Use only moderate force on crowfoot and flare nut wrenches.
Broken or slipping wrenches can cause injury.
• Slimline wrenches can break if overloaded.
