Clarifications and Board Actions
The following items are miscellaneous rules and clarifications that fall outside By-Laws. Dates shown are when they were approved by the board.

Employees Becoming Members - A rule passed on Nov. 20, 1995 stated no employee shall be eligible for Club membership. This motion was amended to allow a part time employee, but not a full-time
employee to become a member. Such part time employee may be a member but may not be a committee chairperson or be a member of the Board while so employed. The part time employee is allowed to join as a member unless the manager of the division which he is employed objects

Membership Equity Increase – Members who leave before Nov. 30 and have not paid dues for the
following year beginning Dec. 1 do not receive the equity increase. (12-14-09)
Deferred Initiation Fee – The Membership Committee with the approval of the Board may establish a
multi-year schedule for Initiation fee payments.
Withholding Unpaid Initiation Fee – If a member leaves the club before the full prorated initiation fee
is paid then the balance will be deducted from the equity balance when the member is replaced. (06-23-03)
Inventory Insurance. The Club will provide insurance coverage of Pro Shop Inventory in the amount of $40,000. (12-20-95)
Domestic Animals. No domestic animals shall be allowed on the premises of Myakka Pines. (04-15-96)
Vandalism. By memo MPGC supervisors are to be instructed that they report crime and vandalism to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office immediately upon discovery. (03-17-03)
Divorce Between Family Members – When family members get divorced and both wish to remain members, the spouse’s name that appears as designee on the certificate retains the membership. The spouse without a certificate has to go back on the list for membership and pay the initiation fee and membership fee just like any new single member. The spouse without a certificate gets priority and goes to the top of the list and will be able to play golf until a new membership becomes available. (10-16-2000).
Club House Rental. There will be a flat fee of $100.00 for the rental of the Club House, sponsored by a member, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 12:00 PM. All rentals must be approved by the House Committee and the Board of Directors. (09-9-85)
If Club House is to be used for Memorial Services for a current member in good standing the rental fee is to be waived. (05-2003 House Comm.)
         10. Notices or Decorations in Club House. Permission must be obtained from the House Committee before placing anything on the walls of the Club House. Scotch tape and tacks should never be used – just masking tape. (09-17-90)
11. Smoking. There will be no smoking inside the Clubhouse at any time. (12-14-09) 12. Memorials.
A. All memorials for deceased members shall be directed to the “Tree Fund”. (11-7-83)
B. Limit of one (1) tree per person may be dedicated as memorial. (05-18-92)
C. The Florida flag shall be lowered for period of two days upon death of an active member only.

D. Tree Fund changed to "Beautification Fund” – memorial book will take the place of memorial
plaques – present plaques will be taken down and kept in the office for those who would like to
claim the plaque. (12-16-97)
13. Return of Dues on Termination of Membership. When a member leaves the club, he/she/they shall not
be entitled to any return of dues or other charges such as, but not limited to, Trail Fees, Bag Storage, etc. Exception will be made in the case of the death of a member or spouse and then dues will be prorated. Approved 6-15-09 board. This was found to be against the By-Laws and was repealed at the 01-18-2010 board meeting.
