Jill Miglietti
Using a combination of textile techniques, Miglietti’s artworks reference the colours,
textures and patterns present in a specific environment. She gathers a locality-based

colour palette and uses it in an abstract way to evoke her specific experience there.
Slowing, stopping, listening and watching are important parts of the process, as is
photography, enabling detailed observation and building an intuitive familiarity of
            place.
This collection centres around Maitland Beach, near Cape Liptrap in southern
Victoria. She sees her art practice as an extension of time spent there,
beachcombing and camping in all weathers and seasons. In the resulting works,
materials and processes merge to embody the essence of place, memory and

connection. Processes include Collage, basketry, crochet, machine stitch and hand
            stitch.
