Diane Mattiske

In this series of work, Mattiske uses wool, one of Australia’s key natural re-

sources, to express her appreciation of our environment. Discarded woollen
blankets are repurposed through a process of hand dyeing with plant mat-
ter. Locally sourced foliage provides clearly defined leaf motifs and various

shades of earthy colours. Mattiske has diversified into hand dyeing machine
knitted, woollen pieces. Collectively the works portray a deep sense of con-

nection to the beauty that abounds in nature.
