Protest By The Workers In Front Of The House Of
The Boss
Kazova textile workers were not paid for four months of their
work, nor given seniority or notice when they were thrown out of
work, and protested in front of the house of the firm’s owner, say-
ing “we will not allow our rights to be taken away”.
They are struggling for their rights in a firm where they were
not paid for four months and put out the door without seniority
or notice. The workers went in front of the Tarabya home of the
owner Umit Somuncu, and opened a banner saying “We will not
allow Kazova bosses to take our rights away”. The workers chanted
the slogan “We will not allow Umit Somuncu to take away our
rights, we don’t want charity, we want our rights, we are workers,
we are right, we will win”. In their press statement in front of the
home of the owner, they said:
“Yes, we came. Where are you? Why have you not appeared
before us in weeks? For years you exploited our labour and when
the work was finished you gave no rights, declared bankruptcy,
but the workers whose rights you took came. Where are you? Why
don’t you face us? If you think, they’ll forget, with time they will
get bored, they will give up and go quiet, the you are wrong. You
did not just steal from us workers, you stole from our wives and
children. While you live in luxury in your summer house and villa,
we can’t even take bread home. We cannot even pay for the school
fees of our children. We want years’ worth of our honour, four
months of wages, bonuses, our working hours, seniority and no-
tice.”
