Chad Koontz – Station Shift Supervisor, Electric Production
Chad has returned to the BWL following employment at EDF Renewable Energy Services and Cogentrix Energy LCC . He has been in the energy business for over 20 years, and has operated plants that are fueled by coal, wood, biomass, and natural gas . His hobbies include kayaking, fishing, hunting, and tinkering with anything that has a motor . Start Date – 3/23/2020
Jacob List – Engineer, Electric System Integrity Engineering
Before his employment at the BWL, Jacob worked for Consumers Energy as an Engineer Intern in Low Voltage Planning . He also spent time at Dematic as a Controls Engineer Intern, and at Bierlein-Trombley Electric as an Apprentice Electrician . In Jacob’s free time, he enjoys weight lifting, riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing . Start Date: 1/13/2020
Will Mills – Senior Windows System Administrator, Information Technology
Will started his IT experience at Saginaw Valley University as a Desktop Support Specialist and then was promoted to Systems Administrator . Before coming on board at the BWL, he worked at Total Solutions as an Office 365 and Sharepoint Consultant . He has been married to his wife Rebekah for 10 1⁄2 years, and they have one son named Luke and another son on the way . In Will’s free time, he enjoys playing video games, collecting board games, and playing with his son . Start Date: 3/30/2020
Rich Mutschler – Journey Lineworker, Overhead Electric Construction & Maintenance
Rich is active in the United States Marine Corps . Before working at the BWL, he worked as an electrician at Buist Electric and as a lineman at Lowell Light and Power . He has been married for 23 years to his wife, Tara, and they have three children – Shelby (21), Avry (19), and Rumsey (16) . Shelby is in nursing college, Avry attends Kent State, and Rumsey is a sophomore at Lowell High School . Rich enjoys living at the lake, boating, and supporting his boys in their wrestling careers . Ryan Sheley – Journey Lineworker, Electric Delivery
Ryan worked in Forestry for the BWL in 2008-2014, then he moved to the Line
Department, working there until 2019 . He spent almost a year working for
Consumers Energy before returning to the BWL . He has been married for 13
years, and he has four children (3 boys, 1 girl), ages 9 years, 7 years, 4 years, and 2 years old . Start Date: 3/2/2020
Joe Simon – Financial Analyst, Finance and Planning
Before his arrival to work at the BWL, Joe was employed by the State of Michigan as a Financial Analyst . Prior to that, he worked at Jackson National at the Trade Desk . Joe is single, and he enjoys basketball, volleyball, and camping . Start Date – 3/23/2020
Jon Winner – Utility Line Clearance Trimmer, Vegetation Management
Jon began working as a tree trimmer right out of high school in 2006 . He also spent four years working in HVAC and a year climbing cell phone towers . He returned to tree trimming for a while before beginning his employment at the BWL . He is married with three sons; Camden, Carsen, and Colt . In his free time, Jon enjoys hunting, fishing, and shooting . He also enjoys summer fun with his family, which includes camping and road trips . Start Date: 3/2/2020
