As many of you have heard, there’s been a lot of effort that’s gone into BWL’s energy toward obtaining the ISO 55001 certification. The
initial focus has been on the certification of the REO Plant. This ISO certification formalizes and documents the Asset Management/Reliability, Work Management, and Materials Management Processes. It also clearly defines stakeholder roles and responsibilities, in order to ensure solid handoffs between stakeholders and departments and to capture, document and provide training and institutional knowledge to all those individuals involved.
While many of you may not need to see all the extensive diagrams, RASI charts, coaching cards, etc. that have gone into supporting ISO certification efforts, many of you will see some sort of training being introduced to you. The Work Management Office has worked hand in hand with the Asset
Management Team, Materials Management Team and most importantly with the Asset Owners and their Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure all these supporting documents are accurate and reflect the vision of the company and the organization as a whole, as we move into the Utility of the Future.
Since REO is the first location to work toward the ISO certification, the trainings
will initially focus on those folks that work with the REO Plant. As those identified stakeholders go through the trainings assigned to them, much of the content will look very familiar. While some of the terms may seem new, the actual actions and concepts are practices we’re already doing as an organization. The goal with the training is to ensure everyone trains with
the same information, and that we validate that everyone has been trained; which is a key component to the ISO 55001 certification.
The added benefit is as we bring on new staff members, we’ll have formalized training that will allow them to get up to speed on concepts and terms in a more formal fashion. The first training is scheduled to be released in the next month. Individuals who are identified for the training can expect
an announcement from their supervisor, along with an email, letting them know how to access their training when it is assigned to them in LMS.
If there are any questions or you’d like more information, please contact Pamela
Moore, Manager of the Work Management Office, or let your supervisor know.
