CIS, CMMS, ESM UPDATES
by Abigail Staples
Customer Information System (CIS)
The BWL is currently replacing its Legacy CIS with UMAX, which uses Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 platform. The project is currently in the Development Phase, which began in May 2020 and is scheduled to end July 31. The Development Phase focuses on configuring, testing and demonstrating the required functionality. During the previous phase, the Design Phase, the team identified numerous process gaps and now in the Development Phase, the solutions for these process gaps are built. Additionally, the team will be participating in Conference Room Pilots (CRP). A CRP is used by CIS Project vendor, Itineris, to ensure that the BWL is exposed to and working within and alongside the UMAX solution and view the functionality which was configured. The next phase of the project, or the Deployment Phase, is scheduled to begin
in August 2020 and end in February 2021.

The BSmart portfolio contains many technology upgrades and systems. The projects previously referred to as Cityworks and GIS Lifecycle are currently part of the BSmart portfolio and in order to create consistency and eliminate confusion between these
and the other projects, these projects have been rebranded.
Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Cityworks will be replacing Mapcon, which is the current Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) used by much of Operations. The Cityworks project has been rebranded to be called the CMMS project. The CMMS project will enable the BWL
to gather and manage asset health information and maintenance history to make better data-driven business decisions. Through this project, we’ll see more effectively managed assets, improved efficiencies, communication and data accuracy, as well as the creation of a single source of truth for asset information in conjunction with our GIS. The CMMS project release
rollout and schedule should be finalized shortly, so stay tuned for updates!
Engineering Services Management (ESM)
The Engineering Services Management (ESM) project will be utilizing SSP Lifecycle to replace the current Service Agreement Program, IPSEC, MVPost, and is the foundation for ArcFM Design. This system will support workflows, job types and process data for
an array of capital work and service requests. Through
this project, we’ll see improved efficiencies through cross functional workflow management, improved
data consistency through templates and fillable forms, and streamlined business processes. This project officially kicked off in May and will go- live in early 2021.
Both of these tools work
with the GIS system to aid
in the Engineering Services, Work Management and Asset Management process. You’ll notice these newly branded projects on future BSmart communications and presentations.
